自助排查
- 立即停止空调运行，使用遥控器关机并断开电源，等待至少 30 分钟让压缩机完全冷却。
- 检查室外机周围是否通风良好——室外机前方和后方至少保留 30 cm 以上的空间，上方和侧面不得堆放杂物。
- 观察室外机冷凝器翅片是否积满灰尘或杂物，如有可用水管低压冲洗（避开电器盒部分）。
- 重新开机后将温度设置在 26°C–28°C，风速调至最大，观察 E5 是否短期内再次出现——如果在制冷负荷较小的情况下仍然触发，说明系统存在实质性故障。

The Changhong air conditioner has detected that the compressor top/discharge temperature is too high, displaying the E5 error code. E5 indicates the compressor operating temperature has exceeded the preset safety threshold. The control system triggers protection to prevent permanent compressor damage due to overheating. This fault typically occurs under high cooling or heating loads — the AC will automatically reduce frequency or shut down completely, resuming only after the compressor temperature drops.
Common Causes
- Insufficient refrigerant or a system leak, causing reduced suction gas volume — the compressor cannot cool itself through returning refrigerant gas.
- Poor outdoor condenser heat dissipation (clogged fins, abnormal fan speed, or poor ventilation around the installation location), causing excessively high condensing pressure.
- Blockage in the system piping (such as a clogged capillary tube or electronic expansion valve), causing abnormally elevated discharge pressure.
- Internal mechanical wear in the compressor (valve plates, bearings, etc.), causing increased internal friction heating.
- Insufficient system vacuum or non-condensable gases (air) mixed in the system, causing abnormally elevated condensing temperature and pressure.
- The discharge temperature sensor itself is faulty and is falsely reporting a high temperature signal.
Self-Check Steps
- Immediately stop the AC operation — turn off with the remote and disconnect power. Wait at least 30 minutes for the compressor to cool down completely.
- Check whether the outdoor unit has adequate ventilation — maintain at least 30 cm clearance in front of and behind the unit, and do not stack items on top or to the sides.
- Observe whether the outdoor unit’s condenser fins are heavily clogged with dust or debris. If so, use a water hose at low pressure to rinse them (avoiding the electrical box area).
- After restarting, set the temperature to 26°C–28°C and the fan to maximum speed. Observe whether E5 reappears shortly — if it triggers even under low cooling load, there is a substantive system fault.
