English
Meaning
Error code E24 indicates a short circuit condition in the dryer’s NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) temperature sensor. Because NTC resistance decreases as temperature rises, a near-zero reading tricks the control board into detecting extreme high temperature, forcing a heating shut-down. Unlike E21, E24 specifically flags a short-circuit failure of the NTC sensor rather than an open circuit.
Common Causes
- NTC sensor internally shorted or with failed insulation, showing near-zero resistance between terminals.
- Insulation damage on the sensor leads causing bare wires to contact each other directly.
- Moisture or water ingress inside the sensor connector, creating a leakage path with low resistance between pins.
- NTC sensor metal housing contacting one of the lead wires, creating a short to ground.
- Filter capacitor on the control board’s NTC detection circuit shorted, mimicking a sensor short.
Self-Check Steps
- Disconnect power, unplug the NTC sensor connector, and measure resistance across the sensor terminals with a multimeter — normal room-temperature reading is 10kΩ–15kΩ; near-zero indicates a shorted sensor.
- Visually inspect the sensor lead wires for bare spots or contact points; apply heat-shrink tubing to insulate any exposed conductors separately.
- Check the connector for moisture or water residue; dry with a hairdryer on low heat, then recheck the resistance reading for recovery.
- Measure insulation resistance between the sensor housing and each lead — should exceed 1MΩ; a lower reading indicates internal leakage requiring sensor replacement.
- If E24 persists after replacing the sensor, test the NTC pins on the main control board for a short or a shorted filter capacitor, and replace the board if necessary.
