English
Meaning
E60 indicates a heating fault. After the heater is activated during the heating wash phase, the water temperature failed to reach the set temperature within the specified time, or the temperature rise rate was significantly lower than expected. The controller continuously monitors water temperature changes via the NTC temperature sensor; when the temperature rise is insufficient after a period of heating (e.g., below 1°C/minute), it determines the heating system is abnormal and stops for protection. This fault prevents heated wash cycles (e.g., hot wash, sanitize wash) but does not affect cold-water programs.
Common Causes
- The heating element’s internal resistance wire is burned out or the sheath is cracked, causing total heating failure or earth-leakage protection tripping.
- Heavy scale buildup on the heating element surface — in hard-water areas, limescale coating drastically reduces heat transfer efficiency.
- The relay or TRIAC in the heating element supply circuit is damaged; the control board issues a heating command but the element never actually receives power.
- The NTC temperature sensor’s resistance has drifted or gone open-circuit, feeding false low or high temperature data to the main board and disrupting heating control logic.
- The heating circuit terminals are burned, loose, or have poor contact — high current flowing through the connection causes terminal heating and eventual connection failure.
Self-Check Steps
- Check whether the washer is receiving normal power — some high-power heating models require a dedicated circuit; verify the circuit breaker has not tripped.
- Run a cold-water wash program to confirm basic washer functionality. If a cold cycle completes successfully, the problem is likely in the heating system.
- After disconnecting power, open the rear panel and visually inspect the heating element terminals and connectors for scorching, melting, or looseness.
- If you have been using hard water for a long time without descaling maintenance, purchase a washer-specific descaling agent and run an empty hot wash cycle to attempt to dissolve scale from the heating element surface.
- The heating element and NTC sensor are typically installed at the bottom of the outer tub and require tub disassembly for service. If the steps above do not help, contact Frigidaire after-sales service for professional heating element and temperature control system diagnostics.
