- 开机后用手感知室内机出风温度：制冷模式下如果出风接近室温（无明显凉意），制冷剂不足的可能性很高。
- 观察室外机连接管路上的细管（液管）和粗管（气管）在运行时的温度或结露状态：制冷模式下细管应温热、粗管应冰凉结露——如果粗管不凉，说明制冷剂循环量不足。

The Changhong air conditioner has detected a refrigerant leak or insufficient charge, and the system has entered protection mode, displaying the F3 error code. F3 indicates the AC control system has determined through monitoring compressor operating parameters (current, discharge temperature, evaporation temperature, etc.) that the refrigerant in the system is severely insufficient. Refrigerant is the medium through which the AC achieves cooling and heating. A leak will cause the AC to lose all cooling and heating capability, and the compressor may also be damaged due to lack of suction gas cooling.
Common Causes
- The AC piping system has a micro-leak point, and refrigerant has slowly leaked out over long-term use.
- Poor sealing at the flare nut joints of the piping connections — these are common leak points.
- The evaporator or condenser copper tubing has developed micro-pinholes due to corrosion, causing refrigerant leakage.
- The internal seal of the 4-way reversing valve is worn and leaking, causing high-pressure to low-pressure side gas bypass.
- Refrigerant was not charged to the standard amount during installation — the initial charge was insufficient.
- The outdoor unit piping was subjected to external impact during transport or installation, causing pipe cracks or fractures.
Self-Check Steps
- Immediately stop the AC and disconnect power. Stop compressor operation to prevent further damage.
- Check the joints of the connecting piping between the indoor and outdoor units for visible oil traces — refrigerant leaks typically carry out refrigeration oil, and oil stains indicate potential leak points.
- After starting the unit, feel the indoor unit air outlet temperature by hand: in cooling mode, if the outlet air is close to room temperature (no noticeable coolness), insufficient refrigerant is highly likely.
- Observe the small-diameter pipe (liquid line) and large-diameter pipe (gas line) at the outdoor unit connections during operation. In cooling mode, the small pipe should feel warm and the large pipe should be cold with condensation — if the large pipe is not cold, refrigerant circulation is insufficient.
- Refrigerant leak repair requires professional equipment for pressure leak testing, vacuum evacuation, and precise refrigerant charging. Do not use aftermarket “AC refrigerant recharge kits” or non-standard products, as these can damage the compressor.
