The Konka TV has detected a data line communication fault between the main chip and the LCD panel. Error code E012 indicates a transmission failure in the image data link. The screen may show vertical lines, garbled images, no picture, or screen tearing, but backlight and sound are usually normal.
Common Causes
- Oxidized or bent/broken gold fingers on the FFC/FPC ribbon cable, interrupting data channels.
- The source driver IC on the panel is damaged and cannot correctly receive or latch data signals.
- The COF (Chip-on-Film) ribbon between the logic board and the panel has lifted or broken.
- Bent or fatigued spring contacts or cold solder joints on the panel connector (CN socket) on the main board.
- Impedance mismatch or electromagnetic interference on the panel data lines.
- Open or short circuits in the internal array wiring of the LCD panel itself.
Self-Check Steps
- Power off, then reseat the ribbon cables between the main board, logic board, and screen, ensuring they are fully inserted.
- Gently clean the ribbon cable gold fingers with a pencil eraser to remove oxidation, then reconnect and test.
- Observe the pattern of image corruption: regular vertical lines usually indicate a bad COF; horizontal interference suggests a logic board issue; full-screen snow/noise points to data clock synchronization loss.
- Gently press on the ribbon connector area and watch for changes in the picture — improvement under pressure suggests poor contact.
