English
Meaning
Water drain timeout — the washer failed to drain water below the preset level within the specified time. E2 indicates the water level sensor did not detect a drop in water level, or the drop was too slow during the drain phase. The system has determined a drain anomaly and halted the program.
Common Causes
- The drain pump is clogged — foreign objects such as coins, buttons, or hairpins are jammed in the pump impeller.
- The drain hose is kinked, crushed, or hung too high (above 100 cm from floor), causing excessive drain resistance.
- The drain filter (usually behind a small door at the bottom right) is clogged with accumulated debris, impeding drainage.
- The drain pump motor is burned out or the run capacitor has failed; the pump does not operate.
- The water level sensor (pressure switch) air tube has detached or is leaking, preventing correct water level change detection.
- The household drain outlet is blocked; water pumped out by the washer cannot flow into the drain.
Self-Check Steps
- Check the drain hose for kinks, crushing, or excessive height — lower the hose (not higher than 80 cm) and ensure the outlet is clear.
- Open the drain filter access door at the bottom right of the washer, unscrew the filter counterclockwise, and clean out accumulated debris (coins, buttons, lint, etc.). Note: place a water container underneath before opening.
- Listen for the drain pump operating sound during the drain phase — if there is no sound at all, the pump may be burned out or there is a circuit fault.
- Remove the drain hose and check whether the pump impeller is obstructed by foreign objects — the impeller should spin freely by hand.
- If the above checks don’t resolve the issue, contact TCL after-sales to replace the drain pump or water level sensor.
