The Changhong TV has detected a T-con (Timing Controller) board fault. The screen may show tearing, flickering, color abnormalities, a gray screen, or a white screen. The E03 error code indicates the T-con board cannot properly process the LVDS signal from the main board and convert it into the row/column driver timing signals required by the panel. The T-con board is the critical bridge between the main board and the LCD panel.

Common Causes

1. The core timing controller IC on the T-con board is internally damaged or overheating, causing abnormal operation.
2. The LVDS ribbon cable from the main board to the T-con board is loose, broken, or has poor contact — the signal is not transmitting properly.
3. The power regulator IC (DC-DC converter) on the T-con board has failed and cannot generate the multiple voltage levels required by the panel.
4. Gamma correction voltages have drifted outside the normal range, causing grayscale display distortion.
5. The FFC (Flexible Flat Cable) between the T-con board and the panel has oxidized contacts or is loose.
6. The EEPROM storage chip data on the T-con board is corrupted, causing loss of panel timing parameters.

Self-Check Steps

1. Disconnect the TV from power, wait 2–3 minutes, then reconnect and power on. Observe whether the fault recovers — some T-con faults can be temporarily cleared by a power reset.
2. Enter the TV settings menu and try switching picture modes (e.g., Standard, Cinema, Dynamic) to see if the fault differs between modes.
3. Use the “Factory Reset” function in the TV menu to rule out software-level timing configuration anomalies.
4. Gently tap the back cover of the TV near the T-con board location (usually behind the upper or middle section of the screen) and observe whether the picture changes — a reaction suggests poor contact.
