English
Meaning
Heater failure. The dishwasher heating element cannot heat properly, or the main control detects abnormal heating current or a non-responsive heating relay.
Common Causes
- Open heating element (burned-out resistance wire)
- Thick scale buildup on the heating element drastically reducing heat transfer
- Welded or burnt heating relay contacts
- Loose or burnt heater power harness connector
- Blown thermal fuse (thermal cutoff)
- Failed triac or relay drive circuit on the main control board
Self-Check Steps
- Power off, check the heater connector for tightness and signs of burning
- Use a multimeter to measure heater resistance — typically 20–50 Ω depending on wattage; infinite reading indicates an open circuit
- Measure insulation resistance from the heater terminal to ground — replace if below 1 MΩ (shock hazard)
- Check the thermal fuse at the base for continuity; if open, investigate the overheating cause before replacing
- Heavy scale requires heater cleaning or replacement; use rinse aid and dishwasher salt to prevent recurrence
