Self-Check Steps
- Firmly push the door fully closed and confirm an audible click from the latch
- Inspect the door latch hook for deformation or breakage; check the catch on the door frame for debris
- Check the micro-switch actuator inside the door — it should spring freely; clean debris from the switch channel with a fine needle
- Use a multimeter in diode mode to test switch continuity — should be closed (conducting) when the door is shut and open when the door is open
- Replace the door latch assembly if the switch or latch mechanism is faulty
