English
Meaning
The Skyworth TV has detected an abnormal LVDS (Low-Voltage Differential Signaling) cable connection. Code E15 indicates a data transmission problem on the LVDS or V-by-One ribbon cable between the main board and the LCD panel. These cables carry video pixel data, timing control signals, and panel configuration information. A poor or damaged cable connection can cause various display issues — distorted picture, horizontal stripes, abnormal colors, screen flickering, or a completely blank (gray) screen.
Common Causes
- The LVDS ribbon cable connector is not fully inserted or the latch is not locked, allowing vibration to loosen the connection over time.
- The gold-plated contacts on the cable have oxidized or become contaminated, increasing contact resistance and attenuating the differential signals.
- Internal wires in the cable have broken due to repeated flexing, especially near the connector stress points.
- The connector latch is broken or the socket solder joints have cracked, preventing secure cable retention.
- The cable is too long or poorly routed, introducing electromagnetic interference and degrading signal quality.
- Impedance mismatch between the cable and the driver board (common after using non-original replacement cables), causing signal reflection.
Self-Check Steps
- Power off and check that both ends of the LVDS cable are fully inserted — listen for a click indicating the latch is engaged.
- Reseat the cable — grip the connector body evenly, pull straight out without twisting, then align and push in evenly until the latch clicks.
- Gently clean the gold contact fingers on the cable with a pencil eraser or isopropyl alcohol to remove oxidation, then reconnect.
- With the TV on, gently press on different sections of the LVDS cable and observe if the image momentarily recovers — a break or loose connection may temporarily improve with pressure.
- Inspect the cable for visible creases, damage, or exposed copper traces — if found, replace with a cable of the same specification.
