The robot’s visual navigation camera or sensor system has a fault, preventing it from capturing environmental imagery. SLAM localization and map-building functionality are lost.
Common Causes
- Camera lens covered with dust, fingerprints, or smudges causing blurred images
- Camera module ribbon cable loose or broken
- Lost calibration data in the navigation sensor (gyroscope/accelerometer)
- Operating environment too bright or too dim for the sensor’s dynamic range
- Damaged CMOS sensor inside the camera module
Self-Check Steps
- Gently wipe the camera lens surface with a clean microfiber or lens cloth
- Check for protective film residue or any obstruction covering the camera
- Move the robot to a normally-lit environment and restart
- Try rebuilding the map from the app or performing a navigation parameter reset
- If E09 persists after lens cleaning and the robot cannot build a map, the camera module likely needs replacement
