  1. 检查激光雷达(机器人顶部突出圆塔)是否能自由转动——用手轻轻拨动,应有顺畅的转动感。
  2. 用小毛刷清理雷达顶盖和透镜上的灰尘。
  3. 检查雷达周围的缝隙是否有头发缠绕——用镊子清理干净。
  4. 将机器人移动到光线不太强的地方测试——强阳光中的红外线可能干扰激光雷达。
  5. 重启机器人。若 E8 持续存在,说明激光雷达硬件损坏,联系 TCL 售后更换激光雷达组件。

Meaning

The laser distance sensor (LDS/LIDAR) is abnormal. E8 indicates the robot’s laser ranging sensor is not spinning or data is abnormal. The LIDAR is the core sensor for navigation and map building; its failure prevents the robot from mapping, localizing, and planning paths.

Common Causes

  1. The LIDAR head is entangled with hair or dust, restricting rotation.
  2. The LIDAR drive motor carbon brushes are worn or the motor is damaged; the LIDAR does not spin.
  3. Abnormal LIDAR supply voltage; the laser diode cannot operate normally.
  4. The LIDAR Hall (zero-position) sensor is faulty, unable to determine the rotation origin.
  5. The LIDAR receiver lens is covered with dust, weakening the received signal.
  6. The ribbon cable between the LIDAR and main board is loose or broken.

Self-Check Steps

  1. Check whether the LIDAR (the prominent round tower on top of the robot) spins freely — gently spin it with your hand; it should rotate smoothly.
  2. Use a small brush to clean dust from the LIDAR top cover and lens.
  3. Check for hair wrapped around the LIDAR gap — remove it with tweezers.
  4. Move the robot to a location with less intense light to test — strong sunlight infrared may interfere with the LIDAR.
  5. Restart the robot. If E8 persists, the LIDAR hardware is damaged. Contact TCL after-sales for LIDAR assembly replacement.
