English
Meaning
Error code 1 indicates the washer failed to reach the target water level within 13 minutes of starting the fill cycle. The water level sensor (pressure switch) did not detect a sufficient water level rise, and the main control board triggers a fill timeout to halt the program — protecting the inlet valve coil from overheating due to prolonged energization without water flow.
Common Causes
- The water tap is not fully open or the household water supply is interrupted.
- The inlet valve intake filter screen is clogged with sediment, rust, or scale, severely restricting water flow.
- The inlet hose is kinked, twisted, or compressed against the wall behind the washer.
- The inlet solenoid valve coil is open-circuit or the valve plunger is stuck in the closed position, preventing it from opening when energized.
- The water level sensor’s air tube is detached, cracked, or the sensor itself is faulty and cannot correctly detect the water level.
Self-Check Steps
- Verify the water tap is fully open and check other household taps to confirm normal water supply.
- Turn off the tap, disconnect both ends of the inlet hose, and inspect the filter screen at the inlet valve port. Clean any sediment or debris with a small brush, then reinstall and tighten.
- Inspect the inlet hose for sharp kinks or compression against the wall; straighten the hose to ensure unobstructed water flow.
- Start a wash cycle and, during the fill phase, listen near the inlet valve at the back of the washer. A faint humming sound indicates the solenoid is attempting to operate; complete silence may point to a failed inlet valve.
- If all steps above check out but the error persists, the water level sensor or main control board may be faulty. Contact GE after-sales service to schedule a repair.
