- 排水泵叶轮内部被线头、细绳或内衣钢圈缠绕，电机过载保护触发。
- 排水管弯折、压扁或管内有异物（如儿童玩具、袜子）堵住管路。
- 排水管末端插入地漏过深或排水口浸没在水中，形成虹吸回流或排气不畅。
- 排水泵电机线圈短路或泵体轴承磨损卡死，泵无法运转。
自助排查
- 拔掉洗衣机电源插头，确保安全。打开前下方检修盖板，在泵过滤器下方放置浅盘接水。
- 逆时针旋出排水泵过滤器，清理过滤器内的硬币、发夹、棉絮等杂物，用清水冲洗干净。
- 用手伸入泵腔内转动叶轮，检查是否能自由旋转。若叶轮被线头缠绕，用剪刀小心剪断并取出缠绕物。
- 检查从洗衣机到地漏的整段排水管，确认无弯折、无压扁，排水管末端不要插入地漏太深（保持空气间隙）。
- 清理完毕后装回过滤器并旋紧，重新插电试运行。若代码仍然出现，排水泵电机可能已损坏，需联系通用电气售后更换排水泵。

Error code 8 indicates the drain pump is clogged or blocked. During the drain phase, the main control board detects abnormal drain pump current or a drain rate below the threshold, and determines that the drain circuit has a blockage. This fault prevents the washer from completing drain and spin cycles, and laundry may remain submerged in water.
Common Causes
- The drain pump filter (debris filter) is clogged with coins, hairpins, buttons, lint, or other debris, jamming the impeller.
- The drain pump impeller is tangled with threads, strings, or underwire from bras, triggering the motor overload protection.
- The drain hose is kinked, crushed, or blocked internally by foreign objects such as children’s toys or socks.
- The drain hose end is pushed too deep into the floor drain, or the outlet is submerged in water, causing siphon backflow or poor venting.
- The drain pump motor coil is shorted or the pump bearing is worn and seized, preventing the pump from running.
Self-Check Steps
- Unplug the washer for safety. Open the lower front access panel and place a shallow tray under the pump filter to catch water.
- Turn the drain pump filter counterclockwise to remove it. Clear out any coins, hairpins, lint, or debris, then rinse the filter clean with water.
- Reach into the pump cavity and rotate the impeller by hand to check if it spins freely. If the impeller is tangled with threads, carefully cut and remove the tangled material with scissors.
- Inspect the full length of the drain hose from the washer to the floor drain. Make sure there are no kinks or crushing, and the hose end is not pushed too deep into the drain (maintain an air gap).
- After cleaning, reinstall and tighten the filter, then plug the washer back in and run a test cycle. If the code reappears, the drain pump motor may be damaged and require replacement by GE after-sales service.
