Meaning
Gas leak / refrigerant leak alarm. The built-in gas sensor detects an abnormally high concentration of refrigerant (R32/R290 or other flammable refrigerant). The system enters safe mode and forcibly shuts down. This is a safety-critical fault and must not be ignored.
Common Causes
- Small leak in the refrigerant circuit — slow refrigerant loss detected by the sensor
- Loose flare nut connection or poorly formed flare during AC installation
- Corroded evaporator or condenser copper tube developing a pinhole leak
- False alarm from a drifted or aged gas sensor
- Other environmental gases (alcohol vapors, gas stove leakage) triggering the sensor
Self-Check Steps
- Immediately turn off the AC and ventilate the room — do not use open flames or operate electrical switches in the area
- Use an electronic leak detector to check the indoor unit pipe connections for refrigerant leakage
- Apply soap solution to all pipe joints and look for bubbles indicating leakage
- If a leak is confirmed, a qualified technician must repair the leak point and recharge the refrigerant
