Meaning
Current cut protection. The system detects that the operating current has exceeded the preset protection curve. The IPM (Intelligent Power Module) or current detection circuit triggers a shutdown. Unlike H16 (sustained overcurrent), H31 focuses on transient current spikes.
Common Causes
- Excessive compressor startup surge current exceeding IPM module tolerance
- Internal IGBT short circuit or abnormal gate drive level in the IPM module
- Rapid large fluctuation in supply voltage (e.g. grid flicker)
- Abnormal compressor rotor position detection, starting with incorrect commutation timing
- Aged filter capacitor in the outdoor main board current detection circuit
Self-Check Steps
- Turn the AC off, wait 5 minutes, then restart — rules out transient fluctuation
- Record the supply voltage with a multimeter — check for stable operation within the rated range
- Check the compressor start/run capacitor for normal capacitance
- If the fault recurs frequently, the IPM module or compressor may be faulty — professional diagnosis is needed
