自助排查

10-2 indicates that the main control board has detected a mechanical or electrical fault in the detergent/rinse aid dispenser. KitchenAid dishwasher dispensers are located on the inside of the door and contain two independent mechanisms: the detergent compartment is controlled by a wax motor or bimetal-driven spring door, and the rinse aid is dispensed via a peristaltic pump driven by a solenoid. At the designated dispensing moment in the cycle, the control board sends an activation command to the dispenser driver and confirms the door action via a microswitch or current sensing. If the dispensing mechanism does not respond as expected, the control board displays code 10-2.
Common Causes
- The detergent compartment door spring latch is jammed by hardened detergent clumps or tablet fragments; the wax motor or bimetal actuator operates but the door cannot spring open.
- The internal wax motor or bimetal actuator in the dispenser has aged and failed; the door drive mechanism does not actuate when the control board sends the command.
- The wiring harness between the dispenser and the main control board has been repeatedly flexed at the door hinge and the conductors have fractured internally; the door-open command cannot reach the dispenser.
- The compartment door position microswitch on the dispenser has oxidized contacts or a cracked solder joint; the door opens but the feedback signal does not return.
- The dispenser assembly has been affected by moisture, causing internal contact shorts or corrosion damage to the drive components.
- The rinse aid peristaltic pump tubing is aged, cracked, or has air bubbles; the solenoid operates normally but the rinse aid cannot be drawn.
- The dispenser drive circuit (TRIAC or relay) on the main control board is damaged and cannot supply power to the dispenser actuator.
Self-Check Steps
- Check the detergent compartment for damp, caked detergent powder or tablet fragments left from a previous wash; clean the compartment and the door latch area with a dry cloth, and ensure the door opens and closes freely under manual press testing.
- Run a short wash cycle (no dishes) and during the main wash phase, place your ear close to the dishwasher door and listen carefully for the detergent door popping open — this sound should occur approximately 10–25 minutes after the cycle starts.
- Ensure the rinse aid reservoir is filled to the MAX line; an empty reservoir may cause the sensor to falsely report an empty condition that is misread as a dispenser fault.
- Inspect the visible portion of the dispenser wiring harness at the door hinge area for creases, breaks, or green copper corrosion; pay particular attention to the routing of the harness protective sheath as the door opens and closes.
- Observe the results after a completed cycle: if the dishes have no detergent smell and the detergent compartment door is still closed, it confirms the door did not open; you may need to determine whether the cause is mechanical binding or a drive failure.
