  1. Compressor motor winding inter-turn short circuit or degraded insulation-to-ground, causing abnormally increased running current.
  2. Excessive system refrigerant charge, overloading the compressor and raising current.
  3. System pipe blockage (e.g., capillary tube blockage or filter blockage), causing abnormally high compressor discharge pressure.
  4. Compressor mechanical binding (bearing wear, valve plate damage), causing high rotor rotational resistance.
  5. Abnormal supply voltage (too high or too low) causing abnormal compressor current.
  6. IPM current sampling circuit fault (sampling resistor or op-amp circuit), falsely reporting overcurrent.

Self-Check Steps

  1. Power off completely for 5 minutes, then reconnect power and check if F1 clears. If it occurs occasionally, grid voltage fluctuation may be the cause.
  2. Use a clamp meter to measure each phase current during compressor operation — the currents should be balanced across phases and within rated range.
  3. Measure compressor winding resistance between phases and insulation resistance to ground — phase-to-phase resistances should be roughly balanced; insulation to ground should be >10MΩ.
  4. Check whether the outdoor condenser is dirty or clogged, affecting heat dissipation.
