  2. 用万用表电阻档测量化霜加热管两端——正常阻值应在几十到几百欧姆。若为无穷大则加热管开路。
  3. 检查化霜保险丝(串联在加热回路中的保险元件)——用万用表测通断,若不通需更换同规格保险丝。
  4. 用万用表测量加热管对地绝缘——应在 1MΩ 以上,过低则需更换加热管。
  5. 加热器故障排除后冰箱应能恢复正常化霜和制冷。若无法自行解决,联系 TCL 售后上门更换加热管组件。

Meaning

The defrost heater circuit is open or shorted. E5 indicates the defrost heating loop has detected abnormal current; the heater cannot operate normally. The defrost heater is located below the freezer evaporator and periodically heats the evaporator to melt frost. A heater fault will cause ice to build up increasingly thick on the evaporator, eventually leading to severe cooling performance degradation.

Common Causes

  1. The defrost heating tube’s internal heating wire has burned out; the heater is open circuit.
  2. The heating tube terminals are burnt or the connector is oxidized, causing poor contact.
  3. The defrost fuse (thermal fuse or current fuse) has blown.
  4. The defrost relay or triac is damaged and cannot supply power to the heater.
  5. The heating tube housing is cracked, causing ground leakage that trips leakage protection.
  6. The defrost control circuit on the main board is faulty.

Self-Check Steps

  1. Open the freezer door for a full defrost (24 hours) to completely melt all ice. After defrosting, use a hair dryer on cool setting to dry moisture around the evaporator, then power on again.
  2. Use a multimeter in resistance mode to measure across the defrost heating tube — normal resistance is tens to hundreds of ohms. Infinite means the heater is open circuit.
  3. Check the defrost fuse (a protective component in series with the heating circuit) — test continuity with a multimeter; replace with the same rating if it is open.
  4. Measure the heater’s insulation resistance to ground — should be above 1MΩ; if too low, the heating tube needs replacement.
  5. After the heater issue is resolved, the refrigerator should resume normal defrosting and cooling. If you cannot resolve it yourself, contact TCL after-sales for on-site heating tube replacement.
