English
Meaning
The Changhong air conditioner has detected that the compressor discharge temperature sensor is open or short-circuited, or that the actual discharge temperature has exceeded the safety limit, displaying the E7 error code. Compressor discharge temperature is a core parameter for assessing refrigeration system operating status and safety. When the sensor is open/short-circuited, the main board cannot obtain valid data. When the measured discharge temperature exceeds the protection threshold (typically around 110°C–120°C), the system triggers E7 protection and forcibly stops the compressor to prevent burnout.
Common Causes
- The compressor top discharge temperature sensor (NTC thermistor) has aged and failed, or is open/short-circuited.
- The wiring between the discharge temperature sensor and the outdoor unit main board is disconnected, or the connector is loose or oxidized.
- Severely insufficient refrigerant or a system leak, causing abnormally high compressor suction superheat and a rapid rise in discharge temperature beyond the safety limit.
- A blocked electronic expansion valve or capillary tube, causing insufficient refrigerant flow and excessively high compressor suction superheat.
- Poor system vacuum with non-condensable gases (air) in the piping, causing abnormally elevated discharge temperature.
- Improper outdoor unit installation (poor ventilation, direct sunlight), where high condensing pressure indirectly pushes discharge temperature higher.
Self-Check Steps
- Immediately stop the AC and disconnect power. Allow the system to sit and cool down completely for at least 30 minutes.
- Check the outdoor unit installation environment: ensure the air outlet and intake are unobstructed and there is sufficient ventilation space on all sides.
- Reconnect power and start the unit with the temperature set to 26°C–28°C and fan at maximum. Observe whether E7 quickly reappears. If it triggers even under light load, there is a serious fault with the sensor itself or the refrigeration system.
- Take note — if E7 is accompanied by significantly reduced cooling or complete loss of cooling, a refrigerant leak is more likely.
- Discharge temperature sensor inspection and refrigeration system maintenance both require professional equipment and qualifications. Contact Changhong AC after-sales service for a professional technician to test sensor resistance with a multimeter and assess actual system conditions using pressure gauges, and address any leaks or blockages.
