2. The communication wire terminals are oxidized or corroded by moisture.
3. Abnormal power supply to the outdoor unit (phase loss, unstable voltage) prevents the outdoor board from powering up and communicating.
4. Damaged communication circuit components (optocoupler, communication IC) on either board.
5. Electromagnetic interference from power lines affecting the communication line.

Self-Check Steps

1. Check that the communication wire between indoor and outdoor units is securely connected (usually at the outdoor unit terminal block).
2. Verify the outdoor unit power supply is normal and voltage is within range.
3. Turn off power and check the communication wire for damage, oxidation, or poor contact.
4. If the wire is normal but E7 persists, the indoor or outdoor main board may be faulty — contact service.
